How it works

  1. 1

    Start the test

Press Start. We probe 10 real game providers.

  2. 2

    Read your grade

See ping, jitter and packet loss for each provider, plus an overall grade.

  3. 3

    Fix what is slow

Follow the tips for your grade. Most players can gain 10 to 40 ms for free.

What each grade means

The grade combines ping, jitter and packet loss into a single score from S to D.

GradePingExperience
SUnder 20 msEsports-grade. You cannot do better.
A20 to 40 msExcellent. Feels instant.
B40 to 80 msGood for casual. Small delay on fast flicks.
C80 to 120 msPlayable but noticeable. Fixable.
DOver 120 msBad. Needs work before competitive play.

Questions people ask

What is ping?

Ping is the time it takes for a tiny message to travel from your device to a game server and back, measured in milliseconds. Lower is better.

What is a good ping for gaming?

Under 20 ms is excellent. 20 to 40 ms is great. 40 to 80 ms is fine for casual play. 80 to 120 ms is noticeable. Above 120 ms you will feel delay on every input.

What is jitter?

Jitter is how much your ping changes from one moment to the next. A steady 60 ms feels better than a ping that swings between 20 and 100.

What is packet loss?

Packet loss is when some messages never arrive. Even 1 percent causes rubber-banding and missed hit registration.

Does a VPN help my ping?

Usually no, but sometimes yes. Test with and without. A VPN adds a detour, but if your ISP routes badly, it can help.

Is WiFi bad for gaming?

Yes, compared to a cable. WiFi adds latency, jitter and packet loss. Use Ethernet if you can, or 5 GHz WiFi close to the router.

Why is my ping high at night?

Evening peak time. Your neighbourhood shares the same cables to the ISP, and when everyone streams, latency rises.

Does ping depend on the game?

Yes. Every game has servers in different locations. You might get 15 ms in Valorant and 70 ms in Apex.

Is this ping test accurate?

It measures real round-trip time to the CDN edge that serves each provider. Same measurement method every speed test uses.

How do I lower my ping?

Use Ethernet, close background apps and downloads, restart the router, disable VPN, enable QoS on your router, and pick the closest game server region.
