What is the ToolDeck TikTok video editor?

ToolDeck TikTok Video Editor is a free, browser-based vertical video editor with a 9:16 canvas, bold AI captions, SRT and VTT subtitle support, automatic silence removal, text animations, transitions and chroma key. It uses WebCodecs and WebAssembly to edit and render on your own device, so your files are never uploaded to a server. It needs no account, adds no watermark and exports MP4 at 1080×1920 up to 60 fps.

It is best for short vertical videos, story times, tutorials, product reviews and reaction clips. It is not built for very long videos or for cloud features such as a trending sound library, cloud templates or direct TikTok publishing. Its AI captions recognise English speech today; subtitle files in any language can be imported.

How to edit a TikTok video in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Drop in your vertical clips

Drag MP4, MOV, WebM or photos into the editor. The canvas sets 9:16 automatically when your first clip is vertical. Files are opened in your browser and are not uploaded.

  2. 2

    Add captions, text and cuts

Open AI Captions and press Generate Captions, or import an SRT file. Cut silent parts, add animated text titles, and place beat markers on your trending sound. Trim and speed-ramp as needed.

  3. 3

    Export a clean MP4

Choose 1080×1920, GPU or CPU, then render. Download the MP4 with no watermark and post it on TikTok, Reels or Shorts.

Pro TikTok editing features, free

  • 9:16 vertical canvas, TikTok-ready

A dedicated vertical workspace with a 1080×1920 preview. Choose 9:16 in the Ratio menu and the canvas fits TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Turn on Blurred background to fill the sides when you drop a landscape clip.

  • Free AI auto captions in bold styles

Whisper speech recognition turns English speech into editable caption clips. Pick from 40+ styles, add outline, glow or a box, and get that bold Hormozi look in one click. The model downloads once and your audio never leaves your device.

  • Silence removal for punchy pacing

TikTok viewers scroll past slow intros. Set the silence level and minimum pause, and the editor cuts dead air and closes the gaps in one pass. Ripple delete keeps the timeline tight.

  • Trending text, emojis and stickers

Add animated text titles, emojis and stickers on a dedicated Text track. Animate entrances, position anywhere on the frame, and time them to the beat of your trending sound.

  • Beat markers and beat sync

Drop a trending sound on the audio track and let beat detection place markers on the rhythm. Cuts, text pop-ins and transitions snap to the beat automatically. Runs locally, nothing uploaded.

  • Speed ramps, freeze frames, transitions

Speed from 0.25x to 4x, freeze a frame for comedic timing, and add eight transitions between clips. Ken Burns motion and fades polish slow B-roll.

  • Green screen and overlay layers

Add a reaction clip, logo or B-roll on the overlay track. Turn on chroma key to drop a green screen background and place your subject over any image or video, TikTok-style.

  • 1080×1920 MP4, no watermark

Export an MP4 at 1080×1920 up to 60 fps using your GPU or CPU. No watermark, no credits, no sign-up. Drop the file straight into the TikTok app or schedule it on the web.

What you can make with this TikTok editor

  • Story time videos

Record a story, auto-caption it in a bold style, and cut silent gaps so the pacing stays tight and viewers watch to the end.

  • Tutorials and hacks

Speed up slow steps, freeze on key frames, and add short on-screen captions that viewers can follow without sound.

  • Product reviews and unboxing

Trim uninteresting segments, layer a logo overlay, and export 1080×1920 in under a minute.

  • Trending sounds and dances

Beat markers line up transitions and text pop-ins with the rhythm of your chosen sound.

  • Faceless channels and clips

Use stock footage on the main track, keyed overlays on top, and bold captions in a trending font to keep viewers hooked.

  • Green screen reactions

Chroma key a reaction clip over a viral video and export both at full quality, all locally on your device.

TikTok video editor FAQ

Detailed answers about pricing, privacy, captions, formats, resolution, editing features, browsers and limits.

Free, watermark and sign-up

Is this TikTok video editor really free with no watermark?

Yes. ToolDeck TikTok Video Editor is free, adds no watermark on export, needs no account and never uploads your files. You get a 9:16 vertical canvas, AI captions, silence removal, filters and MP4 export up to 1080×1920 at 60 fps. There are no credits, daily caps or length limits. The only limit is your device’s memory and speed.

Do I need a TikTok account or to log in?

No. Open the page, drop in your clips and start editing. There is no login, no email wall and no trial period. Export the MP4 and post it wherever you like.

Does it publish directly to TikTok?

No. The editor exports a clean MP4 and you upload it inside the TikTok app or the TikTok web uploader. ToolDeck is a browser editor, not an integrator with TikTok’s publishing API.

Is it a free CapCut alternative for TikTok?

It covers the core TikTok job: 9:16 editing, bold AI captions, silence removal, text animations, transitions and speed ramps with no watermark. Several reviews report that CapCut moved auto captions and some AI tools behind a paid plan, so check its current free tier. ToolDeck does not include the trending sound library or direct publish; import your sound file and post manually.

Captions and text for TikTok

How do I add auto captions to a TikTok video?

Import your clip, open the AI Captions and Subtitles tab on the left and press Generate Captions. Whisper runs on your device and adds caption clips on the Text track. Edit any word, pick a style, and export the MP4 with burned-in captions.

Can I make those bold Hormozi-style captions?

Yes. Pick a bold font, add a thick outline or a glow, and keep two to four words per line. The editor includes 40+ caption styles. If you want the classic look with one highlighted word per line, add a per-word highlight in the Style tab.

Which languages do the AI captions support?

The built-in speech model is English only. For Urdu, Hindi, Arabic and other languages, import an SRT or VTT file and burn it into the video. Accuracy drops with music, noise and strong accents, so review the text before exporting.

Can I import an SRT and burn subtitles into the TikTok video?

Yes. Open the AI Captions and Subtitles tab, press Import SRT / VTT file and choose your file. Cues become editable caption clips that use your chosen style, and they are rendered into the exported MP4.

Can I add emojis, stickers and animated text?

Yes. Add emojis and stickers on the Text track, animate entrances, and position them anywhere on the 9:16 frame. Text pop-ins can snap to beat markers so they land on the rhythm of your sound.

Format, aspect ratio and export

What resolution should I export for TikTok?

1080×1920 at 30 or 60 fps is the standard TikTok recommendation. The editor defaults to 9:16 when your first clip is vertical. You can go up to 4K if your device handles it, but TikTok re-encodes anyway.

Does it export vertical 9:16 automatically?

Yes. Choose 9:16 in the Ratio menu, or let the editor set it when your first clip is vertical. Turn on Blurred background if you drop a landscape clip and want to fill the sides.

What file format does TikTok accept?

TikTok accepts MP4 and WebM. ToolDeck exports MP4 (H.264 with AAC audio) in Chrome and Edge, which uploads without issues. The recorder engine exports MP4 or WebM depending on the browser.

What is the maximum video length?

TikTok allows up to 10 minutes for most accounts, up to 60 minutes for some. ToolDeck has no length limit, but 1 GB per imported file, and projects over 30 minutes strain browser memory. Split long projects into parts.

Why is my export slow?

Without a GPU, encoding runs on the CPU and 60 fps at 1080×1920 is slow. Try 30 fps, close other tabs, and use Chrome or Edge on desktop. Mobile browsers are much slower for export.

Editing features

Can I trim, split and merge clips?

Yes. Drag clip edges to trim, press S to split at the playhead, and drop several clips on the timeline to merge them. Ripple delete closes gaps, and Close Gaps removes empty space across the whole track.

Can I add music, voiceover and sound effects?

Yes. Add audio on the two audio tracks, record a voiceover with the Record button, and adjust volume or fade in and out per clip. For trending sounds, export the audio from the TikTok app and import it as an MP3 or M4A.

Can I use the green screen effect on TikTok clips?

Yes. Add your reaction clip on the overlay track, open the Style tab, enable chroma key, pick the key colour and adjust tolerance. Place it above the background clip and export. The chroma key page covers this in more detail.

Can I change speed or make slow motion?

Yes. Set clip speed from 0.25x to 4x. You can also freeze a frame, detach audio from a clip, and fade volume in or out.

Are keyboard shortcuts available?

Yes. Space plays and pauses, S splits, Delete removes, Shift+Delete ripple deletes, Ctrl+D duplicates, Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y undo and redo, arrow keys step frames, and plus and minus zoom the timeline.

Privacy and security

Does it upload my TikTok videos?

No. Editing and rendering happen inside your browser tab. Open the Network tab in your browser developer tools while you edit and export and you will only see the editor code, and — if you use AI captions — the open speech model from a public CDN.

Is it safe for client work and private footage?

Your files are processed locally and never sent to ToolDeck servers, which makes it a good fit for private and client footage. Keep your browser and device updated, and avoid shared computers for sensitive work.

Do AI captions send my audio to the cloud?

No. Whisper runs on your device. Only the open model file is downloaded once and cached. Your audio is not sent anywhere.

Devices and browsers

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

The editor loads on mobile, but the layout and export are built for desktop. For serious TikTok editing and faster exports use Chrome or Edge on a computer, then move the MP4 to your phone or schedule it on TikTok web.

Which browser works best?

Chrome and Edge on desktop give the best results because they support WebCodecs for fast GPU or CPU export. Firefox works with the compatibility engine. Safari has limited support for some filters and captions.

Legal and responsible use

Can I use trending sounds from TikTok?

Only if the sound is licensed for reuse, or if you are posting inside TikTok where the sound is cleared for that platform. Downloading the audio and re-uploading outside TikTok may infringe copyright. This is general information, not legal advice.

Can I use exported videos commercially?

ToolDeck adds no watermark and claims no rights over your exports. Whether a video is usable commercially depends on the rights to the footage, music, fonts and images inside it. Make sure you are licensed to use them.

Tips for a better TikTok edit

  • Loop your best moment

Trim the last frame so it matches the first. TikTok loops smoothly and the watch time climbs.

  • Keep captions short

Two to four words per line. Bold captions with a thick outline read best on a phone screen.

  • Add beat markers before cuts

Detect beats on your audio track first, then drag cuts onto the markers. Every transition lands on the beat.

  • Use 1080p while editing

Preview stays lightweight. Only choose 60 fps and higher when you are about to export.

ToolDeck vs cloud TikTok editors

Cloud editors upload your files, render on their servers and offer stock libraries and trending sounds. ToolDeck trades that for privacy and no limits: nothing is uploaded and the export has no watermark. Choose by what your project needs.

Your TikTok videos never leave your device

There is no upload step and no account. Editing and rendering happen in your browser. If you use AI captions, the open speech model is downloaded once from a public CDN and runs on your device. You can check this yourself: open your browser developer tools, go to the Network tab, then edit and export a video and watch for file uploads. Read how we keep it private.
