What is the ToolDeck video merger?

ToolDeck Video Merger is a free, browser-based tool that combines unlimited clips on one multi-track timeline, with trim, split, ripple delete, reorder and eight transitions. It uses WebCodecs and WebAssembly to merge and render locally, so your files never leave your device. No account, no watermark, MP4 export up to 4K at 60 fps.

It is best for highlight reels, wedding films, course sections, podcasts and social compilations. It is not built for very long films (over 30 minutes) because browsers limit memory, so split long merges into parts.

How to merge videos in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Import all your clips

Drop every clip onto the timeline. Order does not matter at this point. Files are opened in your browser and are not uploaded.

  2. 2

    Trim and reorder

Trim each clip to its best part, drag to reorder, and add transitions between adjacent clips. Add music, captions or titles if you want.

  3. 3

    Export one merged MP4

Choose resolution, frame rate and GPU or CPU, then render. Download a single merged MP4 with no watermark.

Everything you need to combine videos

  • Unlimited clips on one timeline

Drop as many clips as you need onto the timeline. Order them, drag to reorder, and export a single merged MP4. The number of clips is limited only by your device memory.

  • Mix formats and resolutions

Combine MP4, WebM and MOV clips even if they were shot at different resolutions. The editor scales each clip to fit the timeline canvas automatically.

  • Transitions between merged clips

Eight transitions — cross-dissolve, slide, wipe and more — blend two adjacent clips. Great for family videos, wedding highlights and montage edits.

  • Trim and reorder before merging

Trim each clip to its best part, then drag the clips to reorder before exporting. Splitting, ripple delete and Close Gaps keep the timeline tight.

  • Add music and captions

Merging is only step one. Add background music on an audio track, auto-captions on the text track, and lower thirds and titles. Everything renders in one pass.

  • Any aspect ratio

Merge clips at 16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for TikTok and Reels, 1:1 for Instagram, or any ratio. One timeline, one merged MP4.

  • GPU or CPU rendering

The WebCodecs engine encodes each frame, using your graphics card when you have one and your CPU when you do not. Long merged projects render faster with a GPU.

  • MP4, no watermark

Export one merged MP4 up to 4K at 60 fps. No watermark, no credits, no sign-up. Renders locally, so nothing is uploaded.

What you can make with the video merger

  • YouTube highlight reels

Combine the best moments from several source clips into one highlight reel with transitions and music.

  • Wedding and event films

Merge footage from multiple cameras and days into a single timeline, then trim, add music and export the final film.

  • Course and tutorial sections

Combine recorded lessons into one continuous video, or split into numbered chapters with titles between clips.

  • Social media compilations

Merge short clips into a single vertical video for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Add music and beat-synced cuts.

  • Podcast video episodes

Merge the intro, interview segments, ads and outro into one MP4 with music and captions.

  • Product demo videos

Combine feature demos, close-ups and screen recordings into one merged MP4 with transitions.

Video merger FAQ

Detailed answers about pricing, privacy, merging clips, formats, audio, quality and browsers.

Free, watermark and sign-up

How do I merge videos for free?

Drop all your clips onto the ToolDeck timeline, trim and reorder them, add transitions if you like, then press Export. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, there is no watermark and no account is needed.

Is it really free, with no watermark?

Yes. No credits, no daily caps, no watermark, no sign-up. The only limits come from your device: memory, processor speed and a 1 GB per-file cap.

Do I need to sign up?

No. Open the page, drop in your clips and start merging.

How is it different from cloud video mergers?

Cloud mergers upload each clip, join them on their server and often watermark free exports. ToolDeck merges on your device, in your browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, and the merged MP4 has no watermark.

Merging clips

Can I merge videos with different formats and resolutions?

Yes. Drop MP4, WebM and MOV clips (and JPG, PNG or WebP photos) onto the timeline, even if they were shot at different resolutions. Each clip is scaled to fit the timeline canvas and re-encoded to MP4 on export.

How many clips can I merge?

The timeline supports unlimited clips, limited only by your device memory. Merging 2–10 short clips is fast; merging 20+ or 4K clips needs more memory and a stronger computer.

Can I reorder the clips?

Yes. Drag any clip along the timeline to reposition it. Trimming, splitting and ripple delete also work on merged clips before export.

Can I add transitions between merged clips?

Yes. Eight transitions are available between adjacent clips on the same track. Cross-dissolve and slide are the most popular for merged highlights.

Can I add a photo between two videos?

Yes. Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP on the timeline like any clip. Photos render at the frame rate you set for the project.

Audio and captions

Can I add music to a merged video?

Yes. Add music on one of the two audio tracks. The music plays across the whole merged timeline or can be trimmed to a specific section.

Can I keep the original audio of each clip?

Yes. Each clip’s audio plays by default. Mute the clips you do not want and use the audio tracks for music, voiceover or a mix.

Can I add captions and titles after merging?

Yes. Add text, captions and lower thirds on the text track before exporting. Captions can be auto-generated with AI on English speech, or imported as SRT or VTT.

Quality and export

What resolution can I export the merged video at?

Up to 4K at 60 fps if your device has enough memory and processing power. For social, 1080p is faster and plenty sharp.

What frame rate does the merged video use?

The project frame rate you set on export. Mixed source fps is reconciled to that rate automatically. Consistent sources (for example all 30 fps) look best.

What formats can I import and export?

Import MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV (if the browser plays it), and JPG, PNG or WebP photos. Export is MP4 (H.264 with AAC audio) in Chrome and Edge, or MP4/WebM from the recorder engine.

Why does my merged export fail or the tab crash?

Usually the browser ran out of memory. Close other tabs, lower the resolution, split long merges into parts, or merge fewer 4K clips at once. Chrome or Edge on desktop is the most reliable.

Privacy and devices

Does it upload my clips?

No. Merging and rendering happen in your browser tab. Verify by watching the Network tab in your browser developer tools while you export.

Which browser works best?

Chrome and Edge on desktop for the fastest preview and export. Firefox works with the compatibility engine. Safari has limited support for some effects.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

The editor loads on mobile, but layout and performance are built for desktop. For serious merging use Chrome or Edge on a computer.

Legal and responsible use

Can I use exported videos commercially?

ToolDeck claims no rights over your exports. Commercial use depends on the rights to the footage, music and images inside the video. Make sure you are licensed to use them.

What this merger does well, and where it is limited

Everything runs on your own computer, so results depend on your browser, memory and graphics card.

Project types and how well the video merger handles them
Project typeResultNotes
Merging 2–10 short clipsWorks wellFast export in 1080p. Order, trim and add transitions in a few clicks.
Merging 20+ clipsWorks, memory heavyClose other tabs. Long merged projects strain browser memory. Split into parts if needed.
Mixing MP4, WebM and MOVWorksEach clip is decoded and re-encoded to fit the timeline canvas. Playback of MOV depends on the browser’s codec support.
Merging 4K clipsWorks, needs a strong PC4K decoding uses a lot of memory and CPU. Try 1080p for social, 4K only on a desktop with a GPU.
Merging clips of different frame ratesWorks, one output fpsThe merged export uses the project frame rate. Source fps differences are reconciled on export.
Merging clips longer than 30 minutes totalNot recommendedBrowsers limit memory. Split long merged projects into parts.
Merging with cloud templates or stock footageNot supportedToolDeck does not have a stock library. Add your own footage and audio.

Tips for a cleaner merged video

  • Trim before you merge

Cut each clip to its best part first. Merging trimmed clips renders faster and produces a tighter final video.

  • Use transitions sparingly

One transition every few clips keeps the edit clean. A transition on every cut looks amateur.

  • Match audio levels

If clips have audio, normalize volume per clip before merging so the volume does not jump. Fade the volume at the start and end of each clip.

  • Keep a consistent frame rate

Export at one frame rate for the whole merged video. The editor reconciles mixed source fps automatically, but consistent sources look better.

ToolDeck vs cloud video mergers

Cloud mergers upload every clip, join them on their server, and often watermark free exports. ToolDeck merges in your browser and adds no watermark.
