What is the ToolDeck slow motion video maker?
ToolDeck Slow Motion Video Maker is a free, browser-based tool that slows any clip to 0.25x or 0.5x, with pitch-preserved audio, freeze frames, music and voiceover. It uses WebCodecs and WebAssembly to respeed and render locally, so your files never leave your device. No account, no watermark, MP4 export up to 4K at 60 fps.
It is best for sports, dance, product reveals, weddings, nature and comedy clips. It does not do AI frame interpolation, so the smoothest slow motion comes from shooting at 60 or 120 fps. A 30 fps source slowed to 0.25x looks choppy.
How to make slow motion in 3 steps
- 1
Import your clip
Drop your video into the editor. For the smoothest result, use footage shot at 60 or 120 fps. Files open in your browser and are not uploaded.
- 2
Set the slow-motion speed
Select the clip, open the Speed control and choose 0.5x for cinematic or 0.25x for dramatic slow motion. Turn on pitch preservation if the clip has dialogue.
- 3
Export the slowmo MP4
Add music or a freeze frame if you like, choose resolution, frame rate and GPU or CPU, then render. Download a clean MP4 with no watermark.
Cinematic slow motion, free
Smooth slow motion at 0.25x
Four times slower, frame by frame. Best with 60 or 120 fps source footage for buttery smooth motion. Ideal for sports, dance, water, and product reveals.
Cinematic 0.5x slowmo
Half speed is the classic slow-motion look for drama. Use 0.5x to make walking shots, talking heads and B-roll feel cinematic without looking like a slideshow.
Freeze frame for the key moment
Hold the peak of a jump, a punch or a product spin. Set the duration in seconds and the editor stops on that exact frame while the rest keeps playing.
Pitch-preserved audio
A 0.25x slowdown normally makes voices deep and warped. Pitch preservation keeps them human so slow-motion dialogues and commentary still sound natural.
Slow motion with music
Add music on a separate audio track and the music plays at normal speed while the video slows down. Sync the key beat to the moment of slowdown.
Keyed slowmo over any background
Slow motion and chroma key work together. Key a slow-mo subject over any background for dramatic reaction shots and cinematic virtual sets.
Any ratio, any platform
16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 and more. Export 1080×1920 slowmo for TikTok and Reels, or 16:9 for YouTube and film deliverables. Same speed, different canvas.
MP4, no watermark
Export the slow-motion MP4 up to 4K at 60 fps. No watermark, no credits, no sign-up. Renders on your GPU or CPU, entirely in your browser.
What you can make with slow motion
Sports and action
Slow a jump, a kick or a sprint to 0.25x so technique is visible. Switch back to 1x for the next action. Shooting at 60 or 120 fps gives smoother results.
Dance and music videos
Slow the body roll on the beat, then snap back to normal speed on the drop. Synced to beat markers, the timing feels intentional.
Product reveals and ads
A slow spin, a splash or a drop of liquid. Slow motion sells product quality better than any other technique.
Wedding and event videos
A slow first dance, a slow walk down the aisle, a slow sunset. Slow motion makes emotional moments feel bigger.
Nature and travel
Waves, waterfalls, birds in flight, rain. At 0.25x these mundane moments become cinematic B-roll.
Comedy and reactions
Exaggerated slow-mo for comedic emphasis, then freeze frame for the punchline. A 0.25x slow and a 1-second freeze earns the laugh.

Free, watermark and sign-up
How do I make a slow motion video for free?
Drop your clip into ToolDeck, select it and open the Speed control. Choose 0.25x or 0.5x, then press Export. Everything runs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded, there is no watermark and no account is needed.
Is it really free, with no watermark?
Yes. No credits, no daily caps, no watermark, no sign-up. The only limits come from your device.
Do I need to install an app?
No. It runs entirely in your browser. No install, no extension, no download of anything except the page itself.
Slow motion quality
Why does my slow motion look choppy?
The source footage is likely 30 fps or lower. When slowed to 0.25x, only about 7 frames per second play, which looks choppy. Shoot at 60 or 120 fps to keep slow motion smooth.
What fps should I shoot for slow motion?
Shoot at 60 fps for a good 0.5x slow motion and 120 fps for 0.25x. The higher the source fps, the more real frames are available per second of slow motion.
Can I make smooth slowmo from 30 fps footage?
Not with true frames. Some tools use AI frame interpolation to guess the missing frames, but ToolDeck does not. The cleanest fix is to shoot at a higher fps next time or accept the choppy look as a stylistic choice.
What speed is best for slow motion?
0.5x is the classic cinematic slow motion — noticeable but not distracting. 0.25x is dramatic and best for sports, action and reveals. Test both on the same clip.
Audio and pitch
Does the audio pitch change when I slow down?
By default pitch is preserved, so a 0.5x slowdown makes the audio longer but not deeper. Turn pitch preservation off if you want the classic deep slow-mo voice for comedic effect.
Can I mute the original audio and add music?
Yes. Mute the video clip’s audio, then add music on the audio track. The music plays at normal speed while the video is slow.
Can I add a voiceover on top of slow motion?
Yes. Record a voiceover with the Record button or import an MP3. The voiceover plays at normal speed while the video is slow.
Formats, export and limits
What resolution can I export?
Up to 4K at 60 fps if your device has enough memory and processing power. For social, 1080p is faster and plenty sharp.
What formats can I import and export?
Import MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV (if the browser plays it), plus JPG, PNG, WebP and common audio formats. Export is MP4 (H.264 with AAC audio) in Chrome and Edge.
What is the maximum file size?
1 GB per imported file. Very long slowed clips use more memory, so split into parts if your browser struggles.
Privacy and devices
Does it upload my video?
No. Slow motion and rendering happen in your browser. Verify by watching the Network tab in your browser developer tools while you export.
Which browser works best?
Chrome and Edge on desktop for the fastest preview and export. Firefox works with the compatibility engine. Safari has limited support for some effects.
Does it work on mobile?
The editor loads on mobile, but layout and performance are built for desktop. Use Chrome or Edge on a computer for serious slow motion.
Legal and responsible use
Can I use exported videos commercially?
ToolDeck claims no rights over your exports. Commercial use depends on the rights to the footage, music and images inside the video. Make sure you are licensed to use them.
What this tool does well, and where it is limited
Everything runs on your own computer, and slow motion quality depends first on how the source was shot.
| Project type | Result | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Source shot at 60 fps, slowed to 0.5x | Very smooth | 30 effective frames per second in slow motion. Looks native. |
| Source shot at 120 fps, slowed to 0.25x | Very smooth | The best combination for buttery-smooth dramatic slowmo. |
| Source shot at 30 fps, slowed to 0.25x | Choppy | Only ~7 frames per second at 0.25x. Shoot at higher fps next time. |
| Audio dialogue at 0.25x | Needs pitch preservation | Turn on pitch preservation or the voice sounds deep and warped. |
| Very long clips slowed down | Memory heavy | A 20-minute clip slowed to 0.25x is 80 minutes in the timeline and needs a lot of memory. Split into parts. |
| 4K slow motion | Works, needs a strong PC | Uses a lot of memory. Try 1080p for social or use a desktop GPU. |
| Interpolated slow motion (AI frames) | Not supported | True frame interpolation needs cloud AI. Shoot at a higher fps instead. |
Tips for smoother slow motion
Shoot at 60 or 120 fps
Smooth slow motion needs source frames. A 30 fps clip slowed to 0.25x shows about 7 frames per second. Higher fps sources solve this.
Lock the camera down
Shaky handheld footage looks worse in slow motion. Use a tripod or gimbal for slow-mo shots, or stabilise the source first.
Match the music beat
Sync the moment of slowdown to a music beat using beat markers. Slowmo that lands on the drop feels intentional.
Freeze the peak
Freeze frame at the peak of motion (a jump, a splash, a smile) for a split-second, then return to normal speed. Instant drama.
ToolDeck vs cloud slow motion apps
Cloud tools upload your files and often watermark free exports. ToolDeck makes slow motion in your browser and adds no watermark.
