Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The audio is decoded and MP3-encoded entirely in your browser. Your video never leaves your device, so we cannot see it even if we wanted to.
Is it really 100% secure?
Yes. There is no upload step, no server processing, no temporary storage. Open your browser network tab while you use the tool and you will not see your video being sent anywhere.
Why is this faster than other video-to-MP3 sites?
Other sites upload your video to a server, process it there, and send the MP3 back, which is a full round trip. We do the decoding and encoding on your device with native browser APIs and the standard LAME MP3 encoder. That means a typical 5-minute video converts in 2-5 seconds instead of 30-60 seconds.
What is the maximum file size?
500 MB and up to 10 minutes per job. That covers podcasts, lectures, live recordings and most music videos. For anything longer, trim it first with our Video Trimmer tool.
Which bitrate should I choose?
128 kbps is the recommended default, with good quality and small files. Use 64 kbps for voice-only content (podcasts, lectures). Use 192 or 320 kbps for music where fidelity matters.
What video formats are supported?
MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, M4V, OGV, AVI and any format your browser can decode. MP4 is the safest choice.
Can I extract audio from a very long video?
Up to 10 minutes per job. For longer, trim it into segments with our Video Trimmer tool and extract each one.
What if the video has no audio track?
Some videos are silent (screen recordings, GIF-style clips). We flag this before extraction if your browser reports it. If in doubt, try anyway. The output will just be an empty MP3 you can discard.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, though iOS Safari is stricter about media codecs. MP4 and MOV work reliably; some exotic formats may not decode.
Does it work offline?
After the first use the LAME encoder is cached. After that, you can switch off WiFi and extract MP3s locally.
Can I batch-convert multiple videos?
Not in this version. It handles one video at a time. Batch mode is on our roadmap.
