Why convert JPEG to PNG?
PNG is lossless, it keeps every pixel exactly as it was. JPG throws away some detail every time you re-save it. If you plan to edit, print or add transparency, PNG is the safe choice.
Will converting JPEG to PNG improve quality?
No. If the JPG was already compressed, converting to PNG cannot bring back lost detail. What it does is stop any further quality loss in future edits.
Does PNG support transparency?
