Quick answer: what is a good ping in Valorant?
In short: under 30 ms is tournament-grade, 30–50 ms is excellent for ranked, 50–80 ms is good, and anything above about 100 ms starts to cost you duels. To get the lowest ping, pick the Valorant region closest to you, use a cable, and close background downloads.
Ping is the time a signal takes to reach the game server and return, in milliseconds. Two other numbers matter just as much: jitter, how much your ping changes from moment to moment, and packet loss, the share of data that never arrives. A steady 70 ms often feels better than an average of 50 ms that keeps jumping.
Run the test above, then choose the matching server in the Valorant client. The ranges below are typical values, and your own numbers will depend on your ISP, your location and the time of day.

What is a good ping for Valorant?
General guidelines for Valorant, a fast-reaction game where latency matters more than in slower-paced titles.
| Ping | Rating | What it feels like |
|---|---|---|
| Under 30 ms | Tournament-grade | Duels feel instant. This is the level most pros play at. |
| 30–50 ms | Excellent | Great for ranked. You are rarely at a disadvantage. |
| 50–80 ms | Good | Fine for most play. Even duels may slightly favour a lower-ping opponent. |
| 80–120 ms | Noticeable delay | You will feel the delay when peeking and in head-to-head duels. |
| Over 120 ms | Poor | Competitive play becomes very hard. Switch region or fix your connection. |
Valorant server regions by country
Which region is usually best for which country, based on network distance, and the ping to expect from a good connection.
| Country | Best Valorant region | Typical ping |
|---|---|---|
| Pakistan | Middle East or Asia (Mumbai), depending on your ISP | 50–90 ms |
| India | Asia (Mumbai) | 25–40 ms |
| UAE / Saudi Arabia | Middle East | 15–35 ms |
| UK / Germany | Europe | 15–35 ms |
| USA | North America | 20–50 ms |
| Brazil | Brazil / Latin America | 20–50 ms |
| Japan / Korea | Asia (Tokyo or Seoul) | 10–25 ms |
| Australia | Oceania | 20–40 ms |
Ranges are indicative for good wired or fiber connections. Riot can add or remove regions, and your ISP\u2019s routing can change which one is fastest, so confirm with the ping shown in the client.
ToolDeck vs other ways to check your Valorant ping
Each method answers a different question. Here is what each is good for, so you know which to use.
| Feature | ToolDeck Valorant ping test | Speed-test sites | In-game ping display | Command line (ping / tracert) | Game VPN or booster apps |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it measures | Latency to several Valorant regions at once | Latency and bandwidth to one nearby test server | Ping to the one server you are in | Round trip to any address you type | Latency through the provider’s own routes |
| Compares regions side by side | Yes | No | Shows one game pod at a time | One address at a time | Usually shows its own list |
| Install or account needed | None. Runs in your browser | Usually none | Valorant installed and a Riot account | None, but needs a terminal | App install, often a subscription |
| Works on a phone | Yes | Yes | No (Valorant is for PC) | Not easily | Sometimes |
| Shows jitter and packet loss | Latency and stability readings | Sometimes | Yes, in the game’s stats display | With extra effort | Often |
| How close to real in-game ping | Close enough to compare regions, but not identical | Weak guide for game latency | Exact | Some servers block ping requests | Can be lower or higher than your normal route |
| Cost | Free | Free | Free | Free | Often paid |
| Privacy | No Riot login, no upload, no tracking | Varies by site | Handled by the game | Stays on your PC | Traffic passes through a third party |
| Best for | Choosing the right region fast | Checking download and upload speed | A final check during play | Technical diagnosis | Working around a bad ISP route |
The other columns describe common patterns across tools, not any single product. Features differ by provider.
Best approach: use the ToolDeck test to choose a region quickly, then confirm with the ping shown in the Valorant client, and use the command line only to dig into a routing problem.
How to lower your Valorant ping
Six practical fixes, in rough order of how much they help.
Use a cable
Ethernet is the biggest single upgrade for Valorant. Moving from WiFi to a cable often cuts both ping and spikes noticeably.
Close background traffic
Downloads, game launchers, cloud backups and streaming on other devices all add jitter. Close them before you queue.
Pick the closest game pod
Check the server or game pod options in the Valorant client and choose the one with the lowest ping for you, using your test result as a guide.
Watch packet loss, not just ping
Turn on the network stats in the game’s video settings. Packet loss above zero causes rubber-banding even when ping looks fine.
Skip the VPN
A VPN adds a stop on the way. Only try one if you have shown that your ISP routes Valorant traffic badly, and compare with and without it.
Restart your router
A router that has run for weeks can slow down. Restart it now and then to keep latency steady.
Troubleshooting Valorant lag
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| High ping all the time | Wrong region, weak WiFi or a slow route from your ISP. | Pick the region at the top of your results, use a cable and compare with the table above. |
| Ping spikes every few seconds | WiFi interference or background downloads. | Switch to a cable or 5 GHz WiFi and close other devices’ downloads. |
| Ping is fine but you rubber-band | Packet loss from a poor signal or faulty cable. | Check packet loss in the game stats, replace the cable and restart your router. |
| Good in the day, bad at night | Network congestion in peak hours. | Play at quieter times, or ask your ISP about evening performance. |
| Ping jumped after a game update or ISP change | Your route to the server changed. | Run the test again, try a different game pod, and contact your ISP if it stays high. |
| Your test result is lower than in-game ping | The test is a browser measurement, and the game uses its own connection. | Use the test to choose a region, then confirm with the in-game ping display. |

Valorant ping questions
What is a good ping for Valorant?
Under 30 ms is tournament-grade. 30 to 50 ms is excellent for ranked. 50 to 80 ms is fine for most play. Above 100 ms you will feel the delay in duels, and above about 150 ms competitive play becomes very hard.
Which Valorant server is best for Pakistan?
For Pakistan, the Middle East region is often the fastest, typically around 50 to 70 ms, with Asia (Mumbai) as the other main option. Which one wins depends on your ISP’s routing, so check your test result and the ping shown in the Valorant client.
Which Valorant server is best for India?
For India, Asia (Mumbai) is usually the fastest, often around 25 to 40 ms on fiber. Singapore or the Middle East can be a backup, but they are normally slower.
Can I choose my Valorant server?
The Valorant client shows the available game pods with their ping, and it lets you choose a preferred one in the queue options. The exact menu can change between patches, so look for the server or game pod option in the Play screen.
Why does my in-game Valorant ping differ from your number?
Valorant uses UDP for real-time movement, which a browser cannot send. We measure the closest equivalent, the round-trip time of web requests to data centres in each region. It is good for comparing regions, but it will not match the in-game number exactly.
How do I reduce my Valorant ping?
Use Ethernet, close background apps and downloads, restart your router, avoid a VPN, and pick the closest game pod in the client. Moving from WiFi to a cable is often the biggest gain.
Can I play Valorant with 100 ms ping?
Yes, but you will feel the delay. In duels where both players see each other at the same time, the lower-ping player often has the advantage. It is fine for casual play and harder for competitive ranked.
Does a VPN help Valorant ping?
Usually not, because it adds a detour. It can help in rare cases where your ISP routes Valorant traffic badly. Test with and without a VPN and keep the lower result.
What is the difference between ping, jitter and packet loss?
Ping is the round-trip time to the server. Jitter is how much that time changes from moment to moment, and packet loss is the share of data that never arrives. High jitter or any packet loss can feel worse than a slightly higher but steady ping.
Does ping matter if the servers run at a high tick rate?
Yes. A high server tick rate reduces delay on the server side, but your network latency is still the biggest delay you can control. Lower ping means you see and react to enemies sooner.
What is peeker’s advantage?
It is the small edge the player who moves into view has over the player holding an angle, because of network delay. The higher the pings involved, the more noticeable it becomes, which is one more reason to keep your ping low and stable.
Is this test accurate?
It is accurate enough to compare regions and spot a bad connection, but it is a browser measurement. Use it to choose a region, then confirm with the ping shown in the game.
Do I need to log in to see my Valorant ping?
No. We do not ask for your Riot account or ID. The test is anonymous and runs in your browser.
Your data stays on your device
No account, no upload, no tracking. The test runs entirely in your browser and uses only public CDN endpoints for timing. Read more on our privacy section.
