What the resizer includes
Platform presets
Instagram post, portrait, story and reel, TikTok, YouTube thumbnail and banner, Twitter/X, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and WhatsApp. One click sets the pixel size.
Passport and visa size presets
US, UK, Schengen, India, Pakistan, China, Japan, Australia and Canada, set in pixels at 300 DPI. This handles the size only, so always check your authority’s full photo rules.
Target file size in KB
Enter a limit such as 50 KB, 100 KB or 200 KB and the tool lowers quality, and if needed resolution, to try to get under it. Useful for upload forms with a size cap.
Processed in your browser
Images are opened, resized and saved by your own browser, so your photos are not uploaded. You can check this in your browser network tab.
Four fit modes
Fill crops to cover the target size. Fit keeps the whole image with empty bands. Pad fills those bands with a color or transparency. Stretch forces the exact size.
Before and after slider
Drag a slider across the result to compare the original and the resized image, so you can check crops and pad colors.
Batch up to 20 images plus ZIP
Add up to 20 photos, apply the same settings to all of them, then download one by one or as a ZIP.
Metadata stripped
EXIF orientation is applied so rotated phone photos come out the right way up. Location and camera metadata are removed from the resized file.
What people use it for
Post to Instagram at the right size
Feed posts commonly use 1080x1080, portrait posts 1080x1350 and stories 1080x1920. Pick the preset and use Fill or Pad depending on whether you want cropping.
Resize for a passport or visa photo
Pick your country preset to get the correct pixel size at 300 DPI. You still need to meet the authority’s rules on background, head size and expression.
Fit an upload form limit
Some portals cap photos at 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB. Set a target size and the tool tries to get under it, reducing quality or resolution as needed.
Prepare a YouTube thumbnail
YouTube thumbnails are commonly 1280x720. Pick the preset and use Fill to crop to 16:9 without stretching.
Batch-resize product photos
Need the same square size across a catalog? Add up to 20 photos, set 1000x1000 and download the set as a ZIP.
Resize photos for a family
Several people, several forms. Resize each batch to its own preset and download the files together.
What works well and what to keep in mind
A short, honest look at what this resizer is good for and where you need another tool.
Works well for
- Making photos smaller or fitting them to an exact pixel size
- Preparing images for social posts, thumbnails and banners
- Meeting an upload limit in KB for forms and portals
- Resizing a batch of up to 20 photos with the same settings
Keep in mind
- Making an image larger than the original can look soft. Use the Image Upscaler if you need more pixels.
- Target file size is best effort. Very small limits can reduce quality or resolution noticeably.
- Passport and visa presets only set the pixel size. They do not check background, head position or other rules.
- Platform sizes change over time. Check the platform’s current guidance before an important upload.
- Output is capped at 12,000 pixels on the longest side.
- Location and camera metadata are removed from resized files.

Questions people ask
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing happens in your browser with the Canvas API, so your photos stay on your device. You can confirm this by watching your browser network tab while you use the tool.
How do I resize an image online for free?
Drop your photo into the tool, pick a preset or enter custom pixels, then download the result. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
How do I resize an image to 100 KB?
Choose the target file size option, enter 100 KB and resize. The tool tries different JPEG or WebP quality levels, and if quality alone is not enough it reduces the resolution step by step. Very detailed photos may need a noticeably smaller size to fit.
What image sizes do social media platforms use?
Common sizes built into the presets: Instagram 1080x1080 (square), 1080x1350 (portrait) and 1080x1920 (story and reel); YouTube 1280x720 (thumbnail); Twitter/X 1600x900 (post) and 1500x500 (header); Facebook 1200x630 (post) and 820x312 (cover); LinkedIn 1200x627 (post) and 1584x396 (banner); Pinterest 1000x1500; TikTok 1080x1920. Platforms change sizes from time to time, so check their current guidance.
Which passport and visa sizes are included?
US 2x2 in (600x600 px at 300 DPI), UK 35x45 mm, Schengen 35x45 mm, India 35x35 mm, Pakistan 35x45 mm, China visa 33x48 mm, Japan 35x45 mm, Australia 35x45 mm and Canada 50x70 mm. Requirements can differ by document type and change over time, so confirm the size with the issuing authority.
Will this make my photo accepted as a passport photo?
Not by itself. The tool sets the dimensions, but authorities also check background color, head size and position, lighting and expression. Use the resizer for the size and check the official photo guidelines for everything else.
What is the difference between Fill, Fit, Pad and Stretch?
Fill crops the photo to cover the whole target size, so edges may be cut off. Fit keeps the whole photo and leaves empty bands. Pad is Fit with a background color or transparency behind the empty areas. Stretch forces the exact size and distorts the photo if the aspect ratio differs.
How do I resize an image without cropping it?
Use Fit or Pad. Fit keeps the whole photo inside the target size, and Pad fills the leftover space with a color of your choice or transparency.
Does resizing reduce quality?
Making an image smaller usually looks fine, although very small sizes lose detail and a low target file size lowers quality. Making an image larger can look soft because the tool cannot add detail. For enlarging, try the Image Upscaler.
Can I resize multiple images at once?
Yes. Add up to 20 images and the same settings apply to all of them. You can download them one by one or as a single ZIP.
What are the size limits?
Up to 20 images at once, up to 25 MB each. Output can be up to 12,000 pixels on the longest side, because browsers cannot reliably handle more.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, it runs in mobile browsers such as Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android. Speed depends on your phone and on how many and how large the photos are.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has fully loaded you can keep resizing without a connection, because the resizing code runs in your browser. You need to be online to load the page the first time.
Will my photo keep its GPS location?
No. Location and camera metadata are removed from the resized file. If you need to keep metadata, use a desktop application instead.
Can I keep the original format?
Yes. Choose Same under Output format and the file keeps its format (JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG, WebP stays WebP). You can also pick a different format to convert at the same time, or use the Image Converter.

Your photos stay on your device
There is no upload step and no account. Resizing happens in your browser using the Canvas API, and the finished file saves straight to your downloads. That makes it a reasonable choice for ID photos, private client work and family pictures. Your photos are not sent to a server, and location metadata is removed from the output.
