How it works
- 1
Drop your image
Choose a JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or AVIF file. It is read in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Pick a ratio or drag
Click a preset or drag the crop box and handles. Move it around with the mouse, or type exact numbers in the fields.
- 3
Export the cropped image
Pick JPEG, PNG or WebP, set the quality, then click Crop. Download the result. No watermark, no sign-up.
Everything you get for free
Ten ratio presets
Free, 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, 16:9, 4:3, 3:2, 2:3, 3:4 and 21:9. Covers Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Stories, Reels and print standards.
Freeform drag crop
Skip the presets and drag any crop you want. The corner handles resize, the box moves, and the numbers stay in sync with the numeric inputs.
Live dark overlay
Everything outside the crop is darkened, so you see exactly what will be kept and what will be cut. No guessing after the export.
Numeric crop inputs
Type exact X, Y, width and height values if you need precision. The preview and the crop box update in real time.
JPEG, PNG and WebP output
Pick the format that fits. JPEG for photos, PNG for transparency and pixel-perfect UI, WebP for smaller files on the web.
Quality slider
Control JPEG and WebP quality from 40 to 100 percent. Get a smaller file for the web or preserve every detail for print.
Custom output size
Export at the crop size, or set a target width and let the tool compute the height to keep the ratio. Useful for social platform requirements.
Nothing leaves your device
The image is read from local disk, drawn into a canvas in your browser and saved back to local disk. No part of the file is uploaded.
What people use it for
Instagram feed and Reels
Crop any photo to 1:1 for the feed, 4:5 for portrait posts or 9:16 for Reels and Stories, without letterboxing or stretching.
YouTube thumbnails
Crop a photo to 16:9 for a YouTube thumbnail, then export as JPEG at 1280 x 720 or WebP for a smaller file.
TikTok and Shorts covers
Crop to 9:16 exactly so the cover fits without the platform trimming off part of your subject.
Print photos
Crop to 3:2, 4:3 or 2:3 to match the print size you ordered. No more cropping by the printer and losing composition.
Product photos for ecommerce
Square crops for marketplaces and stores. Line up the product in the frame and export at the exact size the platform asks for.
Profile pictures
Crop to a square for avatars, then export at the pixel size the platform recommends. Clean edges, no unexpected cuts.
Questions people ask
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser using the HTML5 canvas API. The image is read from local disk, cropped in memory and saved back to local disk. Nothing is sent anywhere, and no data about the image, its name or its dimensions reaches any server.
Which image formats can I open?
Any format your browser can decode: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF and most modern formats. HEIC is not supported by most browsers; convert HEIC to JPG first with our HEIC to JPG tool.
Which output formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG and WebP. JPEG is best for photos, PNG for images with transparency or crisp UI edges, and WebP for smaller files that still render in every modern browser.
Does cropping lose quality?
The crop itself is a straight pixel copy, no scaling up. If you keep output size at crop size (the default), you get back exactly the pixels that were inside the crop box. If you set a different output width, the tool resamples once with high-quality smoothing.
Can I crop to an exact pixel size like 1080 x 1920?
Yes. Uncheck Keep output size at crop size, then type the exact output width in pixels. The height is computed automatically to keep the crop ratio. For 1080 x 1920, set the ratio to 9:16 and the output width to 1080.
What does Keep output size at crop size do?
When checked (the default), the exported image is exactly the size of the crop box in original pixels. When unchecked, you can set a different output width and the tool scales the crop up or down to that width.
Does it add a watermark?
No. There is no ToolDeck watermark and no metadata is added. The output is exactly what the canvas produced.
Can I crop multiple images at once?
Not with this tool. It handles one image per session. For batch cropping, use a desktop tool like XnConvert or a script with sharp or ImageMagick.
Does it preserve EXIF data?
No. The output has no EXIF metadata. Some viewers use EXIF orientation, but the tool applies the browser-decoded orientation before cropping, so the result looks correct in every viewer.
Can I undo a crop?
Yes, before exporting. Drag the crop box or the corner handles to a new position and the preview updates live. The original file is never modified. Once you export and close the tab, the original is only wherever you saved it.
Why does the preview look smaller than my image?
The preview is scaled to fit the tool. The crop coordinates and the numeric inputs are in original image pixels, not preview pixels, so what you export matches the actual crop you defined.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes, in modern mobile browsers. Touch drag and pinch work for moving the crop box, and the corner handles respond to touch. Cropping large images on a phone uses more memory than on desktop.
Can I crop transparent PNGs?
Yes. Transparency is preserved in PNG and WebP output. JPEG does not support transparency, so any transparent areas become white when you export as JPEG.
What is the maximum image size?
The practical limit is your device memory and the browser canvas cap, which is usually around 16,000 pixels per side. Images up to about 50 megapixels work well on a modern laptop.
Can I use the output commercially?
Yes. There are no restrictions on the cropped image. Whatever rights you hold over the original, you keep over the result. No attribution required.
Does it rotate the image?
No. The cropper only cuts. If your image needs rotating, use an image editor first, then come back to crop.
Your image never leaves your device
There is no upload step and no server-side handling. The image is read from local disk, cropped into an HTML5 canvas inside your browser tab and saved back to local disk. Nothing about the file, its name or its contents reaches any server, including ours. Open the browser network tab while using the tool and confirm there are no outbound requests carrying your image. Read how we keep it private.
