Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDFs never leave your device. This is critical for legal documents, IDs, medical records and financial statements. None of it touches a server.
What are the three split modes?
Extract: pick specific pages and combine them into a single new PDF. Split every N: chunk the PDF into equal parts. For example, every 5 pages produces a new file every 5 pages. One file per page: every page becomes its own PDF, ideal for distributing individual pages.
How do I type page ranges?
Use commas and hyphens. "1,3,5-8,12" means pages 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12. Spaces are ignored. The parser validates as you type and shows an error if a page number is out of range.
Does it preserve links and bookmarks?
Pages are copied with their full internal structure: fonts, vector graphics, images, text and annotations. Internal PDF links are preserved when the source and target pages remain in the same new document. Cross-document bookmarks that point to pages not included in an extract may be dropped, which is unavoidable in any splitter.
How many pages can I split?
No hard limit. The page picker renders thumbnails for the first 100 pages to keep the interface fast. Splitting itself works on PDFs of any size you can open. Very large PDFs (500+ pages) take longer but process correctly.
Can I split multiple PDFs at once?
Not in this version, one PDF at a time. For multiple PDFs, split them one after another.
What if I only want one page?
Use Extract mode and select just that one page (or type its number). The result is a single new PDF with only that page.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Open the tool and use it. No account, no extension, no app. Works on any modern desktop or mobile browser.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Safari on iOS and Chrome on Android both work. Splitting runs entirely on-device, so even large PDFs process fine on modern phones.
Does it work offline?
After the first load, the engine is cached. You can switch off Wi-Fi and keep splitting. The very first page load needs an internet connection.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not directly, you must unlock it first. Use our Unlock PDF tool to remove the password, then split the result.
How many files can I get from one split?
As many as there are pages. A 500-page PDF in "One file per page" mode produces 500 PDFs, all bundled into a single ZIP download.
